Sword vs Axe
Hello. As the title suggests I am trying to decide between making a Prophecies sword W/Mo or an axe W/Mo. Skills-wise I have few skills unlocked, and I have all of the campaigns exept Factions (Prophecies, EOTN, and Nightfall). So basicly my question is this:
Which would I be able to get more skills for, and which would be better suited for PvE?
Also, does it matter what kind of armor I get ex. Platemail or Gladiator? Are there any differences?
Thank you very much

Personally I like axe, but Hundred Blades make a sword PvE war fairly effective, its really up to you because axe has cyclone axe, etc.
I still say axe
as for armor, only matters whether or not you care about visual appearance, just make sure its maxed
Good luck

for the first half of prophecies, you want sword. reason being the sever artery/gash combo. its very spammable and 90% of the enemies bleed. once you hit crystal desert, axe can be more powerful, depending on which elites you have capped so far.
it doesnt matter what armor you get. as long as its max (80 +20 vs physical is max for warrior) the only reason they have different armor types is so you can pick one you like and look different from one another.

Armor type doesn't matter anymore with the insignia system. Buy the one you like, or can afford. Then add the insignias you want onto it.
Prophecies only has one sword elite, Hundred Blades, and it's not very good.
Axe has two, Cleave and Eviscerate.
I prefer axe for a prophecies warrior.

With no access to Dragon Slash you'll probably be better off with Axe (Eviscerate) or Hammer (Earthshaker).

Actually he does, through EoTN. No Quivering Blade, but you get Dragon Slash AND Crippling Slash...if you're willing to journey to Rata Sum just to cap these skills, PvE swords are DEFINITELY better imo...eviscerate pve simply cannot compare to dragon slash spam for 30 seconds(with FGJ! and enduring harmony)

You must own a campaign to use skills from that campaign. Factions has some great sword skills: Dragon Slash, Quivering Blade, Sun & Moon, Standing, but without owning Factions, you can't use them.

That's right. I only have Proph & EotN, and I tried to cap Burning Arrow in Rrargar's (lol spelling) dungeon, but it said I have to own a NF key on the account to cap it.

I'm going to side with the axe on this one for a Factions-less build. Hell, the common Shock Axe warrior that you'll see fairly often in PvP has almost nothing but Core/Prophecies skills in it to this day. There's a reason why.
As for the Sever Artery/Gash combo being why you should use a sword in Prophecies, you can learn Dismember before you even leave Ascalon and let's face it, the deep wound is far more important than the 6 dps of bleeding so why not skip it for bar compression?
As for armor, please don't get Gladiator, especially if you're a male Wammo. I've never understood the Wonderbra obsession. If you have to choose between Gladiator and Platemail, go Platemail 100% of the time.

Axe. Swords are fun, but without a decent Elite (and no, Hundred Blades does NOT constitute a good choice as this - remember, it used to be a non-attribute Elite, why?, because even now that it is in Swordsmanship, more points in Sword doesn't change anything... lame) you are going to be lacking.
What others have said about Deep Wound is QFT. Deep Wound is the single best condition that a Warrior can drop on someone. While the -3 Degen from Bleeding might be tempting, Axe can DW without Bleeding, and once you hit the Crystal Desert, quite a few mobs don't bleed.
Also, when saying that you can get Dismember before you can leave Ascalon... oh so true, this rocks my face.
In Pre-Searing, you get half of the bar that you are ever going to need in PvE as a Warrior if you plan on using Axe, seriously (read Shock Axe comment above, QFT):
*Res Sig (yeah, PvE is easy, idiot PuG's are not)
*Cyclone Axe (AoE choppy choppy, helps to build Adrenaline)
*Executioner's Strike (SPIKE)
* Frenzy (if one more person cries about the double damage while this skill is active, I'm going to put boot to ass... this is why we don't Frenzy while under fire... common sense isn't so common, sigh)

Deep Wound is entirely unnecessary to being successful in PvE. If you can't kill something without it then you have some serious party issues.

Yet it is entirely necessary to being a good player or team.
Just want to clarify that, so people don't come back later and say "BUT RACHTOH SAID DEEP WOUND ISN'T THAT GOOD".

Basically covered already, but for the sake of brevity, the PvE elite options are ultimately these;
Sword: Dragon Slash
Axe: Eviscerate
Hammer: Earthshaker
Anything else isn't really worth it, unless you need a skill for a specific thing, such as a Dungeon or Vanquish, etc.

i used to like sword. for spamming dragonslash and save yourselfs.
now i like axe eviscerate. togheter with eotn skills i am strongest and asuran scan is big damage. most of all i like frenzy
pve hammer:eartshaker provided u are good in balling up the enemy to get them perma knockdown but ussually they just die to fast and eartshaker will be useless.

i say try out both and see which one you like better. I generally prefer sword but when im in the mood axe is still lots of fun, i use axe more for farming then i do sword too.
Anyway, if your low on cash just choose the one that you alrdy have more skills unlocked in until you get money to buy more skills then explore the new skills.
gl and hf!
